They were free ranging when they were attacked. Our run and coop are pretty secure.
It my fault. I let them out in the morning and forgot to lock them up before I took the kids to storytime. We came home to the results. I will definitely be more careful.

A predator, a fox has been seen in the neighborhood, got in my yard and killed all but one of my flock of 5. The remaining lady is a buff orphington. We'd like to have a flock. If we get some pullets, will she accept them? Is it okay to wait, or should we get them now?
These are supposed to all be pullets, but I worry about everything. They are about 8 weeks old, if the guy at the store told me right. I got them at about a month old.
