How normal is it for a chicken to lay ultra-jumbo eggs almost every time? One of my Easter eggers lays ultra-jumbo eggs more than 50% of the time (2.75 ounces). She's about 6 months old and still getting a hang of the egg laying thing. They're always double yolked. I've seen other people post...
My post may have been unclear.
I meant the house rabbit stuff for people who want to keep a rabbit as a house pet, not for rabbits that are farm animals. I wasn't suggesting you neuter your animals. I was suggesting that people who want to keep them as personal pets neuter them so they don't...
Thanks for the tips! Maybe they're not getting enough grit because the plops were quite grassy, as in I could see a few blades of undigested grass. Will take a photo next time if I remember, although whoever had the plops seems to be better today.
You may already know about it, but the House Rabbit Society has good info on their website for people wanting rabbits as pets: rabbit.org - they're UK-based if I remember correctly but most of the info will be the same. There are also local house rabbit societies in many states and many offer...
Question for you about the ones you sell as pets - do you give people info about keeping rabbits as pets, especially about neutering the boys so they don't spray pee? (Sorry if I missed this in the thread, I read most but not every page.)
I volunteer for the local humane society and we get so...
One of my chickens seems to be have watery poops. It's been hot and they eat a lot of grass, so I'm not too concerned yet (no sign of blood or worms), but I want to give them some electrolytes. When they were chicks I used Sav-A-Chick from the feed store. Has anyone used DIY electrolytes? Do...
We're not allowed to have roosters, so I need to rehome "Priscilla" AKA Prince. He'd make a good rooster for someone's flock. (I'm looking for a home for him, not a dinner pot ;)
Prince is an Easter Egger who came from a regional Ohio haterchery. He's a friendly bird, not aggressive at all...
I will make a closer check of Atilla's neck tomorrow and if Bernice drew blood I'll separate them immediately. Bernice will be leaving on Friday either way.
No, "Bernice" just grabs Atilla by the neck and rips out feathers. Atilla screams bloody murder and runs away so it's possible any attempt at mounting is thwarted. I haven't seen other breeding behavior like tidbiting but I guess if raging hormones are kicking in early it could be a little...
I got 6 one-day-old Easter Egger chicks 12 weeks ago. Well, it looks like 2 are probably boys. We started looking into rehoming them (not allowed to have roosters where we live) but in the past week or so, one of them ("Bernice" AKA Bernard) has suddenly become extremely aggressive towards one...
Recent Ohio transplant here! I'm in central Ohio / Cbus area. Does anyone know good local breeders? I would love to get a couple Buckeye hens! (I have no idea how common or rare they are, I just learned about them recently and they sound neat.)
