Brahma hen with feather loss, pale comb

Thank you thank you for replying, and posting pictures of Eula! Georgia's looking similar to her, and this gives me hope she is going through a partial molt. These girls have been my saving grace through all of this quarantine mess, and I just want to make sure they're healthy and happy!

Brahma hen with feather loss, pale comb

Thank you so much for your reply. I didn't think she was old enough to have a true molt yet, but I've been hopeful that is what is happening, and perhaps her grief has exacerbated it. Thanks again.

Brahma hen with feather loss, pale comb

Hello! I am a first time chicken mom, and I have six, 8 month old Brahma hens. About a month ago, we lost a duck who shared their enclosure to a raccoon attack, where he was killed right under their coop. Our chicken Georgia was besties with the ducks, and took it very hard. Which is why I think...

Can I eat my 19 week olds first eggs?

I have a chicken who sings when her sisters go in to lay! Our hens cause a ruckus in our neighborhood.

2 sweet, personable welsh harlequin drakes

Bob and Clementine are 14 weeks old, raised together from newborns! We held out hope as long as possible we had at least one girl, but they are both handsome fellas. They have always lived with our chickens, but the older they get, the more aggressive they get toward the chickens, and I need to...

    Toe injury

One of my 11 week old Brahmas has a toe injury, looks like the tip of her toenail is off. It bled on her foot feathers. This is our first chicken injury, and I feel unprepared! I took her inside and washed her feet, but it looks like on her other foot there are bloody feather nubs. Not sure...

    Ventilation

    Ventilation

Hi all! My husband finally finished our coop, and it is gorgeous! I have asked him to put cross ventilation in it several times, but he was on a mission and did not. There is a lift down window that runs the long length of the top of the coop, if you open it it is covered with hardware cloth. I...

    Feeding Ducks and Chickens

Hi all! We have 6 chickens and 2 ducks, all about 7.5 weeks old. My hard working husband is trying to finish their coop and duck house but isnt quite done. They go outside during the warmest part of the day, then back to the garage for the chilly nights. My question is feeding them once they...

So grateful for this community already!

Hi all! My name is Vanessa and I am a first time chicken and duck keeper. We have 6 Brahmas and 2 Welsh Harlequin ducks, all 7 weeks old. It has been such fun for our 3 little kiddos to have a part in caring for these fowl friends, and my husband has loved the excuse to indulge in a woodworking...
