As much as it's nice to have more than one duck and all, I wouldn't say it's a must.
Our latest duckling was hatched at the same time as some chickens so grew up at the same time as them. After eight weeks of living life as a chicken we moved him round with the older ducks, he quacks the...

Can't say for certain. Only speaking from one year's experience. But ours went breeding mental for a couple of months (march to may) and have been fine since. We had to separate them from the ladies for that period, now they're back together and the idea of seperation seems crazy. It's...
We have two silkies around about ten to twelve weeks old; one white and one brown.
Are there any good ways of telling what gender they both are. Neither are crowing which is really the only way to tell.
If it's something clear I can check. If it's a finer point I can upload a photo or two...

I always presumed it was a nerves adrenalin type of thing. Like they get frightened cause you pick them up so the adrenalin starts pumping and they start shaking. I always presumed it to be that?
I like the happy idea better though. Hope I'm wrong.
We hatched all our ducks at the same time as chickens. We just had to turn them by hand once the incubator stopped turning them. Pain in the arse, but worth it when you have a beautiful duckling a week later.
As a general rule duck eggs tend to need a bit more humidity (all those wet duck...

I'd love some mandarins. They look awesome. Do you have any? How are they as pets?
Ancona's look really good too. Oddly enough not so keen on Muscovys.
This dream is a little while off. Currently sourcing more land for my little duck kingdom.
We currently have 5 ducks (all of crazy non descript breed), we're looking into adopting a local cayuga as well. However hopefully we might soon have some land. The dream is to reach the ten duck mark and...
We have a large bath out back. Every few days we'll siphon the water out just to leave a thick residue of mud and muck at the bottom. This I then scrape out with a spade and dump next to the bath, scrub the inside till it's sparking and its refilled.
My ducks then play a fun game, where they...
Male ducks are pretty quiet but less friendly, female ones can be pretty loud (although there are quieter breeds - sure someone can recommend them).
I have kept chickens with ducks on several occassions. However it's easier if a) they're brought up together or b) you keep them in seperate pens...

Any reason you think the white is not pekin? I have no reason to doubt, just by photo comparison it made sense and would love to know what the signs are.
They do not all have to be the same breed by any stretch btw. The boys are from the other side of the country, and are no...

Rest assured those photos were taken after emptying, cleaning and refilling their bath. It provides a unique window of up to twelve hours where the water is vaguely translucent before it goes back to mud brown.
Oddly enough the boy on the right has changed a few of his markings again in the last few weeks. Now gone a beautiful mixture of orange and white. Will try and get a photo tomorrow. He is a stunning bird though.
My drakes were chasing my girls all over the place. They were beginning to lose a few feathers on their backs after a while. We were going to separate them when it suddenly all stopped. They stopped mating all together. Not had any aggression since. That was sometime in June? (in the UK)...
