    It's been fairly consistent. I think the issue was I set a cycle for 21 days and I probably should have set it for 25 days for safety because I think when the cycle ended the humidity and temp dropped to maintenance mode.     They were gone. Something went wrong when they zipped I think. We still have two that haven't popped or zipped at all yet but I don't think we have much hope. Out of twelve we got two.

    We saw some chicks at a petting zoo today that had fluffy heads and my husband and kids fell in love. I wasn't able to all to the owner so I don't know what kind of chicks they were. I wish I had pictures but they didn't tell me until later they wanted them. Can anyone help?

    All of the eggs in the 12 batch are showing signs. We're excited and trying not to intervene too much but it seems at least 11/12 are fertile. I didn't take pictures of all because not all are camera visible. Early signs of fertile eggs.

    If you're concerned about it I would keep them inside during the day and transition them at night until the temp levels out to the 80s. That way they get used to the space they'll be moving too while still being safe from the day time heat. The ones in the run I wouldn't worry as much about...

    If she's still caring for the hens I would not force a separation. I would go with the other option of putting them in a separate temporary enclosure but close enough by that the other chickens can get to their scent over time. Then once she lets the chicks she has go, combine the younger girls.

    I usually buy from my local grainery but I think it's Purina. I pay a little over twenty a bag and the chickens have not yet voiced dissent. :)
