I kept food and water for the chicks 100% of the time. Recent flock has stopped eating at night at 5 weeks of age. They have the option to eat, but just like the grown-ups, they go and roost and get ready for bed and are not so interested in food at dusk.

They are so close in age, it should be little to no problem to put them together.

Silly stunt: I'm pretty sure (99%) that any time after 18 weeks is good for layer food. That's the time they start laying and need the calcium.
