Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Thank you for your thoughts on your experience. Her food and water is about two feet away. She is eating and drinking and pooping out of the nest. She only poops in the nest about every other time. I guess I will just keep cleaning up anymore that she puts in the nest and just let her sit and...

Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

You have a Broody hen that keeps pooping in the nest on the eggs. Most of the eggs now have some amount of poop on them. Is there any hope for this clutch of eggs with the hen or should I take the few unsoild and put them in an incubator?

    Sex linked traits?

Thank you, I thought it was just a coincidence but I don't know a whole lot about genes and traits in chickens. I don't think I'll be able to tell anything from the color of their legs they're all about a slate grey with pink toes.

    Sex linked traits?

I have chicks from a white silkie rooster and a white crested blue polish hen. Half are black and white with four toes. Half are more silver and grey with five toes. Can these traits be an indication of sex or are they just a coincidence.
