    Consolidated Kansas

Thanks @Trish44! I actually used a social media outsourcing service (friend who owes me a favor) to post an ad on Facebook. I think he’s pretty familiar with the rules on all the various small animal swapping groups. 🤑🤫 Yep, @Snarflogus, whoever they are, they look like the types who would be...

Maybe Rhode Island Reds? I’ve lived with a few RIRs who were *quite* food motivated. 😛 Cute ducks!

Good ideer. I’ll start checking around a bit more. In recent years the prevalence of good old fashioned bulletin boards seem to have declined quite precipitously... And because I’m a curmudgeon, I blame Facebook 😛 Here are a few more photos of some birds with whom I’ve hung out with.

Thanks Snarflogus! ☺️ I’ve alway heard about these poultry auctions but have never been to one. Do people typical post about them in advance in this thread?

Hey y’all. I’m not new to chickens, BYC, or to Kansas, but gosh, I haven’t posted here in years. So not long ago I lost this guy to a age and an illness with a rapid onset—mostly age however. In the months preceding his death I had re-homed his offspring. I’m not sure of the specific breed...

    chickens evolved from dinosaurs!

Quote: Well, I would say "conclusive" and "proof" are the words I was used loosely. Finding any mushrooms IMP?

    chickens evolved from dinosaurs!

Thanks! Quote: He really does crow like that, we just don't hear it as such—not that I want you to pee your pants and run... but that would have been fun to add to the video.

    chickens and kittens

I have a slight problem that has more to do with the behavior cats than chickens, and I'm curious if this is common. We have a population of barn cats and so far this spring three litters of kittens have been born. All three of the mother cats have birthed their kittens in nesting boxes that...

Do you think these are chickens?

Quote: Just great. You know, between taking them to soccer practice, piano lessons, art classes, their L.A.R.P. club meetings, I just don't have time to think.

Do you think these are chickens?

Quote: Thanks! This guy does on occasion try to go after the other two roosters here but they always run; however, they are not game breeds. I think providing them with plenty of space helps (a luxury we are able to provide), the competing roosters have their own territory. Fights only occur...

    Pictures Of The Prettiest Roosters!!***********

Here we have the ruling rooster here at Coal Creek Farm. Currently he goes by the name Scarecrow, in part because of behavior like this. Here he is chasing a cochin away from the cat food bowls—only his three hens are allow to steal food from the cats.

Do you think these are chickens?

I wish the chickens could be convinced to start a small fire in a bucket and allow me to photograph them brewing coffee and cooking oatmeal over an open flame... yep... that is my one true wish, to watch chickens preparing food.

    Out with the camera

Thanks Princess_Layer. The roo in the first set of photos is an American Game, I've been told he is of a regional lineage. I can't really say what the black birds are, I can tell you what they were supposed to be when I bought them as chicks haahaa. They were supposed to be summatrans but they...
