D'anvers have NEVER laid an egg :(

Ohh!! *Goes to check the bushes* There is a 'nesty boxxy area thingy bit' in the hutch, that's why I thought they might like it. They go in there for food but always perch high up with the pigeons overnight and seem to ignore the nest box. Incidentally, does anyone know what d'anver eggs look...

D'anvers have NEVER laid an egg :(

Hello everyone!! I just popped on here to ask a few quick questions - I'm a little concerned about my d'anvers, Dave and Coral. I got them summertime last year as youngish but fully grown birds. The lady I got them from told me Coral wouldn't start laying eggs for a little while yet so I didn't...

Nope, I'm not quite that far south! I live on the Isle of Wight. But I have been to Jersey and I agree, it's a really lovely place! I keep meaning to look into going again as I loved the zoo there! Thank you for the advice about introducing the birds! I must admit, I have no idea about these...

Hahahahah! Us english people sure do have some weird words! P&P are currently in a hutch like this - http://www.petsboutiques.eu/pet-supplies/image/large/400/40706457-pet-supplies.jpg although I've blocked off the ramp so they only have the top half. I have two buns loose in my shed and they...

Awwhh! Thanks Maggie! I've gone all big headed now! I think they're really pretty too, although a bit scruffy! I'm quite pleased they've both grown ok and I was able to fix Pearl's wonky legs - especially as I've never had chicks before. It's a shame her toe didn't straighten back out though...

Outdoor Cat...bad idea for a nearby chicken coop

Quote: Agree with that 110%! I have a little flock of pigeons, and my big male, Airbus, got caught by a neighbours cat and practically got his leg ripped off. Happened on MY driveway and the neighbours opinion was that I shouldn't have let my birds out. Airbus's vet bills came to nearly £200...

Hello again everyone! I'm here to pick your brains again! Peeps and Pearl are doing well. Pearl had a bit off a wobbly legs issue but I made a splint type thing with a hairband and a bit of tape and she's walking fine again now, just has a bent toe from standing on the side of her foot...

Awwwhh! Thankyou! Just that has put my mind at rest, I'm such a worrier! I've been cleaning the box three or four times a day as they seem to poop so much, they're little feet get quite manky. They also got a 'butt bath' the other day! I do have two food pots they can't stand in but they take...

    Hello!

Hi everyone! I'm new! I've already posted in the chick care section but I just spotted this and thought I'd better say hello My name's Georgina, or George for short. I'm from the Isle of Wight, UK. I'm quite new to chickens, I bought a pair of d'anvers back in the summer and I got two silver...

How old should the chicks be before....?

Hello!! I'm new to chickens so I don't really know a whole bunch but my neighbour had a similar problem with baby guinea pigs that they keep in a big chicken run... In the end they got a bunny rabbit play tunnel, shoved one end through the house doorway, and then the other end came out at the...

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I did wonder if they may be drinking a lot of water but, to be honest, I never seem to see them drinking although they're always in the food bowl! The heat mat is very small, it only takes up about a quarter of the box so they can get off it. It's not all that...
