My females who are not Polish have pulled out my Polish Roos "hair" and his tail feathers. The small tail feathers are coming back, and the head ones were trying too, but the still keep getting pulled out.
Great job! I envy how brave you were. I had this happen to one of mine, one of the sweetest of the bunch. My husband just ended up putting her down. I don't think we could have done it ourselves. I hope she pulls thru perfectly. Now your advice can help others. Kudos!
I had a few of those, thought for sure it was a roo, until I saw "him" lay an egg! Yep, I agree, nice action shot there! Couldn't do that again if you tried! LOL
I enjoy our roo, it wasn't our plan to have one. He was the free exotic we got. When they are free rangeing, he seems to watch over the girls, and makes cute noises when he finds food. Why don't you want fertilized eggs? We eat ours, no difference and no chicks since we collect every day...
I am also pregnant! I am 11 weeks. I gave up the cat litter chore to my oldest, oh dARN, but still take care of the chickens. I heard online that if you've had the cat for a while, you have probably already been exposed to toxoplasmosis. Toxoplasmosis is an infection you can get from a...
Congrats! I am 7 weeks long. Thank goodness no moring sickness. This is my 3rd and my boys are 11 and 7 so it is going to be interesting, but lots of help from them, HOPEFULLY! On your sleeping situation, I think I had seen a baby sized crib that attaches to your bed. I had my first sleep...
Hi, I live in Northern Niagara Co. IN NY state. We have 4 BAs and they are great layers. My husband picked them because they are cold hardy. We'll see, it should snow today! I have at least one thats broody, they are 7 months old now. I also do like the Buff O's. The BA's are very pretty...
My husband has a bit of an issue with it, but he still eats them. He said he doesn't want to crack one open and see a beating heart! Well, me neither, but these are the best eggs I've had, especially over easy!
Wow, you have such a beautiful setup, I would be so upset to have a huge monster like that dog come in and ruin it. We are having problems with a loose dog ourselves, but this one attacked my dog before it saw my chickens were free rangeing. We have gone t court a couple times about it, and...
I had this problem with one of mine. She seemed happy other than the HUGE lump which didn't go down. We did the massaging which helped, and you can keep her isolated and fast her then give bread in olive oil. DH tried holding her upside down and forcing out as a last resort. He just ended up...
