    Mama and baby chick

That makes me feel special!!! Have you added baby chicks to a mama before? I got day old chicks to put under her tonight but I am nervous. But if she trusts me, it may work right ? Lol, I hope!

    Mama and baby chick

So mama is very protective. But with me she seems to trust me. Is that possible? She ruffles up some but doesn't mind me getting close. Anyone else she hisses and ruffles up. We are hoping to add 5 babies tonight when she's asleep. I really hope it works.

    Crazy Broody Chickens

I love my flock, however, I do not love breaking broody chickens every few weeks~! I have a silkie who continues to be broody and 3 out of 4 australorps that take turns being broody. I am sick of it! We live in TX, and its hot, I am about to pop with my 3rd baby, and need ideas how to keep them...

    The Chicken Chateau

We have a larger run: We have 3 nesting boxes inside..I have read and heard it will be great for the girls. I wont have more than 10. We will butcher to eat and rotate birds in and out one day. For now, its just for eggs.

    The Chicken Chateau

My dad built our coop out of scraps we had at our house. I love how it turned out! Eventually it will house our 10 chickens when they are old enough.
