I have tried three different feeds and my hens would eat but not that interested. They would leave the feeder when they saw me. I switched to Bartlett pellets and now I can't get them away from the feeder. They ignore me if they are eating until their crop is full. I pay $16 a bag (50lb)...
A shot of olive oil worked for me on one of my reds. Crop the size of a baseball was gone this morning. Thought I would be looking a surgery.....Thank God I'm not.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your hen. That has got to be hard to take. I will try doing something extra with just her. I keep her seperated now since she has gotton broody. I have given her extra time but will try your suggesstion. I guess it is not that big a deal since she does...
One of my Buffs cannot free range because she misses anything she tries to peck. Misses by 1/2 inch or more. She eats fine from feeder but can't come up with scratch or bugs and things. Is there anything to do to help her?
My hens have a perm coop. This is just to move them around a bit for fresh grass and bugs. It is light but sturdy. On really hot days I cover some of the top with a tarp....
changed them from southern states starter to Bartlett starter/grower ration. 20% about one month ago.
I have just put them on the complete egg ration 17% formula this week after getting first egg.Same hen has laid 6 eggs now.
I have older hens but one of my rir is laying @ 15 weeks. The other hens plymouth rocks, orpingtons, australorps are 18 and 19 weeks and have yet to lay. eggs are small but I have changed feed to layer. Will this hurt the hens not laying?
thanks for replies
