HELP...Why would they stop laying at 1yr 3 months old?

Can you lock them into the coop for several nights in a row (with food and water, of course) and then let them out? Maybe they don't know where their home is yet.

    2 Headed Chicken! Graphic!

It must eat 2x as much. Does it lay 2 eggs? Or one really big one?

letting young children handle week-old chicks

In addition to letting my daughters hold the chicks (and help visitors hold them), I'm also "letting" them catch grasshoppers from the garden:P. Everyone gets a little braver for the experience. Children as young at 2 have spent time in our brooder.

Still taking pictures of the damage. The good news is... our just finished coop was snug and dry (which is more than I can say for my roof, paint, fence, and my entire garden)! When the chicks move in (3 weeks) I feel confident they will be safe. I might even need to move in.

    Really funny looking chick...

Wow. This was like DVRing an entire season of a great show and then sitting down with a fabulous drink and some popcorn and watching the entire series in one long night (with rare bathroom breaks and ignoring the phone calls) and then discovering that you FORGOT to record the final...

    Snake Trap,Requested Post,Not 4 faint hearted

I can't help but wonder... are they edible? I've paid A LOT for eel at sushi restaurants... maybe you could have a side business? I think I would need to have my husband cut that writhing mass down. What happens next? Edited for spell check.

    Colorado!

Thank you for the wonderful welcome! Everyone I know thinks I'm... eccentric... for having chickens as pets. But really, after a hard day's work, having them greet me with cackles and scratch around in pleasure really helps me keep perspective. And there is not a person in my circle that...

    Colorado!

Good morning! We hope to finish building our coop/run today, but it's a bit too early in the morning to start up the power tools so... yea... I've been watching pictures of chicks hatching. Is that wrong? Our five are due to be shipped on Tuesday and I think I'm feeling labor pains!
