I bought one rooster and 3 laying hens. The first night I brought them home, I got one egg, and have not had anymore since then.

One hen is suppose to be 1 yr 3 months

One hen is 1 yr old

One hen is 1 yr 6 months old

Are they stressed from the move. Are they too young to molt? Change of feed? Any help would be appreciated. There are a few feathers in the run, but not many.

Thanks so much guys.

any change from normal for a hen can through them off for a month sometimes. Be patient. Be good to them and unless they are ready to molt they will lay at that age. They can molt early too because of the move. Good luck with your chickens. Gloria Jean

I'll look up the signs of molting, as I am new to this. I hope that is what it is, and they aren't really a lot older than they are suppose to be.

They had a 2 hour trip, so that was pretty stressful on them, I would imagine. They were inside the cool truck, but I am sure it upset them.

They do not seem to want to go inside the coop, I have to put them in there every night. Should I just let them stay out?

Thanks for all the help

Can you lock them into the coop for several nights in a row (with food and water, of course) and then let them out? Maybe they don't know where their home is yet.

How long have you had them?

I would give them at least two weeks to adjust. Lock them in the coop every night at the same time at dusk and let them out at the same time in the morning, and they will adjust to their new home.

Chickens can stop laying because of stress, heat, molting, or age. Young hens have red combs and wattles, and older hens usually have pink combs and wattles.

You can look at their vents, and if they are pink and moist they are younger egg-layers.

The one egg you got was probably already "in the works" and had to come out.
They're still adjusting to a new home and they are at the right age to start a molt. Could be a combination of the two.
