I have 2 Barred Rock and 3 leghorns with a Beilfiedel (spelling?) rooster who are all 2 years old. I also have 2 mixed breed hens that I incubated from my hens who are 6 months old. Large coop and large 10×20 run. My 2 barred rocks have stopped laying. Its been 2 weeks. At first I thought one was broody because she wouldnt leave the nesting box and would peck at me when I tried to shoo her out. A few days later she was out of the coop and back to normal. BUT neither of them are laying. My leghorns and young hens are laying very well. My Rocks are eating, drinking and behaving like they always do so why arent they laying??

Would they molt this early before the start of fall? I thought they molted in the fall?

My barred rock is currently molting. Last year I had a 9 month old pullet start molting in January. They really can be all over the place with when they molt

Interesting, I did not know that! Maybe that is the case! Honestly I hope it is!
