Hi. My almost 2 year old red sex link-golden comet hybrid hasn’t been doing great for around 6 months now. What I noticed first was when I tried to grab her, she would screech and struggle free. Then I noticed she felt lighter and her breastbone felt very sharp. I noticed she wasn’t eating as much as the other hens even though she kept laying. I dewormed (3 days mebendazole) her but didn’t see much change. She didn’t eat much and I noticed some undigested food particles and eggshells in her poop. I’ve been tracking her weight and she stays at 3.4 lbs if I’m prodding her to eat and offering her treats. Then, she started isolating in the corner and looking hunched and ruffled. Eventually, she started closing her eyes in the corner but only in the mornings. Some days she’s active: scratching, dust bathing and others she stands isolated and hunched up. A few weeks ago, I gave sulfa because I suspected coccidiosis since her poops were foamy and she seemed to improve the week after that. She was eating more, very active and didn’t see her isolated. But, a couple weeks later she started looking sick again, so I decided to rule out parasites because apparently I was supposed to give 5 days, not three. She seemed okay kept laying, had 2 soft shelled eggs so I gave Tums for 5 days, then she started laying hard-shelled eggs for a few days, but for the past three days she has laid soft-shelled eggs. I gave three days of Tums during those 3 days but today, she didn’t lay at all. I have limited her sunlight hours for the past 2 days, taking her outside at 8 AM and inside at 5PM in the hopes that she will rest from laying. Now, today she hasn’t laid but she was closing her eyes in the afternoon and the poops in her box tonight are sticky, green with a tinge of yellow and cilinder-like shape I hadn’t seen before. I’m afraid it might be egg yolk peritonitis. I checked on her tonight and she seems normal, I don’t feel any egg to think she’s egg bound, although it might be soft shelled. What should I do? Should I give Tums? I just got Vitamin D3, should I give that? And if it is peritonitis should I give antibiotics just in case? I don’t have access to a vet and I really don’t want to act too late. Please help!

Unfortunately high production breeds often succumb to reproductive issues. After 6 months of possible infection, it's very likely too late for treatment. I'm sorry
