I tried so hard to keep him alive.

My little chicky had to be culled yesterday. He had a neurological disorder. And I kept him alive for 3 months before he went down hill. It was so quick. He went from this quirky personality to no longer walking , standing, or eating. I truly thought he’d make it into adulthood. I swaddled him...

To Cull or Not to Cull

Thank you so much for this, Debbie. I have one more question and hopefully I won’t have to pester anymore. But I’ve noticed a lump on this little chicks lower left side of her abdomen, same side as her leg that she’s not wanting to use. She doesn’t stand or really walk at all, and only when she...

To Cull or Not to Cull

I was doing only water, but everywhere I saw, it said do all those things to help heal faster. But I am doing Vit E and B Complex with a dash of selenium tablet. I would feed eggs, but our chicks aren’t much interested in eggs. That being said, I was worried she wasn’t getting hydrated enough...

To Cull or Not to Cull

Debbie commented on my last post about this. I’ve been doing her recommendations. Last post tho, I never posted video. So maybe she’ll have a better idea this time. Thank you for your response

To Cull or Not to Cull

I’m really at a loss of what to do with this baby silkie. She is definitely got an injured left leg but she’s black and it’s so hard to see where the injury is. She’s not growing much. The only way she eats is if food is physically put in front of her. We were doing water droplets there for a...

    Limping month old silkie chick

Thank you so much, Debbie. I will give this a shot. She seems to be acting a bit better since this morning and is eating. Problem is, she absolutely refuses to drink out of a bowl of any kind. Even got her a little ¼ teaspoon of water and she physically gets up to avoid it. She does drink from...

    Limping month old silkie chick

S I never saw any signs of splay legs. I think what happened is the other chicks just grew like weeds. Our little grey ones are so big. Feels like they grew over night. The black ones were smaller even when they fist showed up but they are thriving. My hunch is, she got hurt and wasn’t able to...

    Limping month old silkie chick

Thank you so much! This is basically all what we have been doing. All the vitamins and even got some other chicks with her so she’s not alone, yet still separated. She does seem to be having issues eating and drinking. She’s eats and drinks, but it’s gotta be put in her face, otherwise she...

    HELP! Suffering baby chicks 💔

No, there’s a lot left over. Should I be giving more? And I forgot add that it’s liquid Vit E. Here’s a pic of what we’re using. The Chick Boost (electrolytes), Poultry Cell, and Poultry Nutri-Drench are all mixed in a gallon of water. We only splash the Poultry Cell and Nutri-Drench in the...

    HELP! Suffering baby chicks 💔

No, we just started mixing medicated feed with their regular feed yesterday. We don’t have a ton of options for food where we live. They are on the Mana Pro 24% protein because I had read that silkies need at least 20% protein. So that’s why we decided to mix medicated with their regular feed...

    HELP! Suffering baby chicks 💔

I give Gobbles 3 to 4 drops from a non needle syringe 3x a day. I just started Feathers on it last night because that’s when I noticed his issues. I mix Vit E with the Complex and mix with a tiny but of Poultry Cell water so it’s easy for him to drink it.
