Ugh...spiders give me the heebie jeebies! I'd rather find a snake any day. I walked into a spider web the other day and about jumped outta my skin!

Does anyone know if the Mi Small Farm Council has a Facebook page? I would like to follow them, and that is the easiest for me. I have a hard time keeping up with a lot of different forums. Thanks in advance! Enjoy this beautiful day!!

Cuppycake, You can train them to come when you call them (not individually, but as a group). When I gave my chicks treats I always call "chick, chick, chick" and now any time I call with chick, chick, chick they come running from where ever they are. It's very helpful when I need to put them up or...

You might be able to save him! My rooster broke his leg and hurt the other this winter. My daughter was the one who found him flopping around in the coop. He is such a nice, sweet rooster and I didn't want to kill him. So...I put him in a dog cage in the coop with food and water (with...

We get our chicks from him. He gets them shipped in from a friend of his. We've never had any problems. Be sure to call first to make sure someone is home.

So sad I can't come...open house to attend and help with. I wanted to come last year too and had something come up. Hoping to attend next year, it sounds like so much fun!

Thanks! I'm going to keep them in the brooder. I've had chickens for 4 years now and only had one hen go broody (in the middle of winter!).

Is there a way to see if a hen will adopt chicks? Someone told my husband that we can put the chicks in the yard and one of our hens should take them in. I'm afraid that the chickens would hurt the chicks. We have the chicks in a brooder right now. Would it be best to keep them there?

Good morning all! Hoping today is nice enough that my DDs and I can go out and clean up the "poop carpet" (lol...as some one posted earlier). I love my dogs, but I always hate looking at the yard after the snow melts and seeing what's been left behind....good thing I have two daughters to put...

Thank you both! I've read all the books and info on the Internet that I've been able to find (hubby laughs at the amount of research I do...same thing I did with the chickens). I guess we'll see what's available when we get a spot ready.
