Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hello from White Lake. We just purchased some little chicks from TSC for our kids and were wondering if there is a place that sells chickens (not chicks) around the metro area? We would like to get a flock going a little faster for eggs

Try Craigs list, people are always advertising on there for adult birds.

Hi Butler, welcome to the Michigan thread and BYC

Maybe there are some down your way with spare birds, probably a little far to go up here. Chickenstock is coming in June, there will be birds available there, and lots of fun stuff for kids to do as well.

Thank you Nova..... I'm hoping once i get her on wire her feet will not be so dirty haha I have less than a month to keep her clean and for my Roosters beard to grow back my girls must enjoy pecking the guys beards off
Mine did the same thing to Florus after an oatmeal treat one night. Went out the next morning, he was plucked bald! I did a double take, was like, WHAT THE bad word Happened to YOU!?

Very good time! Also about the Craigslist, if you do get birds off of craigslist, don't be surprised if you pick up hens and not get eggs for a few weeks. Sometimes, people sell the birds and they are much older than what they claim, the move upsets their laying, or they plain and simple are done laying. BUT look for POL (point of lay) PULLETS this way, they are nearly ready to lay, have time to settle in, and yes, they are going to cost more than a chick.

Could someone do an RSVP page so we can see who else is coming and how many they're dragging with them...kicking and screaming, only to find out they'll have a great time too????

One small side note: Seller Warning: There may be a few people who attend who are not part of our BYC group. They will buy up as many chickens as they can for as cheaply as they can. You don't have to sell your birds to just anyone unless you want too or don't care if they end up someone's dinner or looking for cheap stock. I suggest you check out the buy/sell thread and list your "wants" as well as "Sells" and deal with people on BYC. Seller beware.
