Here are some picts (toward the end of the thread) from 2012 if you want an idea of what to expect.

Could someone do an RSVP page so we can see who else is coming and how many they're dragging with them...kicking and screaming, only to find out they'll have a great time too????

One small side note: Seller Warning: There may be a few people who attend who are not part of our BYC group. They will buy up as many chickens as they can for as cheaply as they can. You don't have to sell your birds to just anyone unless you want too or don't care if they end up someone's dinner or looking for cheap stock. I suggest you check out the buy/sell thread and list your "wants" as well as "Sells" and deal with people on BYC. Seller beware.

YAY!! Hopefully I won't have to work!

Until then, does anyone have any mille fleur pullets or chicks? I had been looking for a porcelain for a really long time, finally got one but it only lasted a few days

I know they're hard to find but if anyone knows of where I can get one that would be great! I could even do with an adult millie roo because my old-ish roo must not have been able to handle a really cold night a couple of months ago. Also looking for ducklings, pretty much anything but Pekins.

It's great to see so many new people! I love chickenstock where i get to meet everyone and actually be social lol. I've been too busy to do much of anything but work, take care of household duties and sleep if I'm lucky lol. I have my son living with us again which is nice but not so nice haha. He works at GM now so we get to use his 2013 Cruz (fantastic little car!) instead of our old Chevy truck. He's helpful but this house is too crowded for 3 adults lol.

The BF has gone into building additional things along with chicken coops. Now he's doing wishing wells, wheelbarrow planters and buckboard wagons. I can't keep up with him, it's all I can do to build toy boxes lol

He also made the bucket

These are the only ones i have pics of. They were made for Aric's mom. She had the wheel for the wheelbarrow but those things are so hard to find!! He's made a few more wishing wells in bigger sizes. He can make them any size. If anyone is interested (or chicken coops too) let us know. We might bring a wishing well or two to chickenstock too.

Pelleted horse bedding is only made from pine, horses are sensitive to some woods such as black walnut and cedar; pelleted fuel may include other woods I believe.
Thank you!!, I got 1 of each, the wood pellets says hard wood but doesn't say what kind. plan to put pine shavings in over pellets. 'If the wood burning pellets are no good for chickens we will burn them
I will be there! I will be showing a few sebastopols, a few runners, a few calls, a couple muscovies, modern game bantams, seramas, bantam americaunas, bantam cochins, one buff orpington, and one speckled sussex. I will probably bring some seramas for sale and maybe a couple other chickens. All I can say is that it will take me probably a week to bathe all of these birds. Keep me in your thoughts so I don't go insane.
You have beautiful birds, good luck and don't forget to have FUN
Hello from White Lake. We just purchased some little chicks from TSC for our kids and were wondering if there is a place that sells chickens (not chicks) around the metro area? We would like to get a flock going a little faster for eggs

Welcome, do come to chicken stock if you can. only hens I have that need to go are OLD, but someone may have some keep checking
I need some brooder input as I'm trying to have everything done and ready before I have chicks to deal with. I have 70 meaties and 6 layers coming in a month. I have 32 eggs in the incubator, and will be setting another 12 on Friday.
the meat birds may be OK at 2 weeks, if you can do a heat lamp. They produce more heat then regular chicks
I posted the above for the new folks since we have so many!!!
Very good job,

very nice!! like the wheelbarrow. a lot of people put the well over there hand pump

Have an order of lumber and fencing coming Saturday... guess there will be no avoiding some work that needs done. We're making separate goat yards for the boys n girls, and to move them out of the back yard.
If you need an extra pair of hands I can help. Have tools, can travel.
Not sure how many people this applies to on here but I get my natural gas through Consumers Energy. I just found out that you can qualify for a small farm rebate ($3.80/mo) I know it isn't much but if you are like me every little bit counts! I am waiting to hear what they qualify as a "small farm'
At a presentation in February, the USDA representative told the Michigan Agriculture Commissioners that the USDA defines a "farm" as any operation that produces or has the potential to produce $1000 worth of ag products in a calendar year.

The MAEAP tech who visited on Monday reiterated that threshold and my operation is by definition a real "farm". I am entered into the state data base as a farming operation. With that comes certain conditions of operation that not all people want to consider. Personally I believe that the positives out-weigh any perceived negatives.

Perhaps I should start an article or thread about the MAEAP Certification process. What do you think?

I loved for Sarah's coop...good luck!

My chicks are getting big, and a little stinky!! This rain needs to quit pretty soon so we can get the coop finished.
