Thank you! I'm curious to hear their response.

Purina Flock Raiser users, question w/pic

Just bought a bag from TSC Saturday & mine looks the same; in fact, this is the 2nd bag of Flock Raiser that's really dark (small flock of 7 ducks but I buy a new bag every 2-3 weeks). They seem to be doing OK on it--in fact, my pekin with bumblefoot is suddenly feeling much better now that I...

    Duck seizure

How's AFLAC today? Weezy started getting niacin Tuesday morning after another seizure, and she had one Tuesday night (a minor one compared to Monday night's ordeal). It's now in the wee hours of Thursday & no seizure in a little over 24 hrs.

    Duck seizure

I, too, am having the same issue with "Weezy," one of my 4 week-old pekins. I have 3 that I'm brooding inside, but only Weezy is having seizures. I'm using Dumor as well. I've been raising ducks for 4 years now but this is my first time raising pekins, and this is definitely my first time having...

    Sylvan Heights Waterfowl in NC

Miss Lydia, I'm in southeastern NC. It's near Rocky Mount, so I guess you would say it's in the northeastern part of the state. Probably a 2 1/2-3 hour drive for me. It looks amazing, though! Sounds like it's definitely worth the trip up I-95 for me!

Ancona Duck Hatch incoming!! (Maybe early?!?!?!?)

Beautiful duckies! Congratulations! Now go get some sleep!

    Duck related advice needed!!!

X 2 on what Amiga said! I love, love, love the first link she posted especially...it was written for geese but is pretty much universal for any waterfowl. Out of all the waterfowl hatching info I have read, this has been the most helpful guide. I managed a 100% hatch rate on my last hatch, so...

Ancona Duck Hatch incoming!! (Maybe early?!?!?!?)

Personally I would recommend not going into lockdown until you see the first external pip. Too much humidity as they are trying to make that extra effort to crack through the shell can make them "juicy" and stress their little hearts & lungs with too much fluid. They can't get enough oxygen &...

    MALLARD THREAD...not rouens, Mallards!

Meet my freshly hatched mallards! I have been raising mallards for about 3 years. I had 14 males and females at one time, but through giving away some and some predator loss, I was down to a male/female pair (Gertrude and Harold). Gertrude started laying in December (weird), and a couple of days...

Sick Duck? Strange Behavior... PLEASE HELP

Bald spot on the back of the head means this lady has been mating! I don't quite understand that part of mating, but whether on land or in the kiddie pool, my drakes always make sure they grab a beak full of feathers on the back of the duck's neck during the act. How rude! How many males and...

So glad there was a happy ending!

    Humidity tips

That definitely worked! I moved the hygrometer a little as well, and it seems my humidity is higher near the center vs. near the edge where it was before. Thank you for the helpful pointer!

    Humidity tips

OK y'all, it's hatch week at my house! Today is day 23 & I'm hatching mallards, so I'm working hard to be prepared for hatching. I incubated in a LG forced air incubator with turners & I'm going to move them to a LG still air for hatching, which I am running now & trying to fine-tune temp &...

    Wow! The mess. Newbie shocked.

DH wants the chickens for the eggs but guess who does all the feeding & cleanup for all of God's creatures on our property now??? Not him! He & my kids have a great tendency to see animals that they want & then leave the caretaking duties to Big Mama (me, of course). As I type, DH's female...
