OK y'all, it's hatch week at my house! Today is day 23 & I'm hatching mallards, so I'm working hard to be prepared for hatching. I incubated in a LG forced air incubator with turners & I'm going to move them to a LG still air for hatching, which I am running now & trying to fine-tune temp & humidity before taking the eggs out of the turners & getting ready for lockdown. Here's my dilemma: I can't get the humidity to go above 50% in the still-air hatching bator to save my life! My air vents on the top are open. I have tried filling the reservoir & adding a small (think large restaurant condiment cup size) dish of warm water. I even tried a saucer of warm water to increase surface area, but the highest reading I've gotten is 51%. Although I question the accuracy of the Walmart hygrometer, I still think it's pretty close to being correct because I don't have fogging in the windows one bit. Any suggestions??? I would be grateful for any ideas!
