When I was doing research on lead poisoning I found one instance where a chicken died of lead poisoning because it had swallowed a lead shell casing :\

Hi friends! it's been almost a week since my last post and our chickens are 5 weeks old today. I feel like our faverolles gets more feathers every day so I took some more pictures! I'm actually now a little more hopeful that she's a pullet since she still has no strongly colored black feathers...

It doesn't have feathers in the middle of the chest yet but they're coming in sort of along the sides, you can see those are part black part brown in the last two pictures. I'm hoping that doesn't count as "solid black" and I can hold out hope for a while longer.
