3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatch!!

Wow! those are great pics and instructions! Thanks for sharing them with us. I just logged on to say that all my eggs were duds. Most had blood rings. 4 were clear. I think they were frozen courtesy of USPS. They were shipped and delivered on the coldest days we've had here. Poor things were...

Can you show me a blood ring?

Thank you. I felt more comfortable after breaking open the first one to see that there was nothing but an eyeball and scrambled yolk sack. So I tossed the other 2; nothing in them. And the 2 clear ones. I'll recandle the rest of the eggs tonight when its dark. I have a bad feeling that I may...

Can you show me a blood ring?

I candled my eggs, again, tonight in a darker room. On several eggs, again, I see a red ring on part of the egg, but the eggs are the only ones that really look like there is a chick moving around in there. So far, nothing smells. I cant see vascular lines on anything else. However, only 3 eggs...

3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatch!!

I candled last night; I'm still at a loss. I set the eggs on the 5th, so I'm 3 days ahead of most of you. On most eggs I saw a small, say 1" line of a pink vein, but nothing like what I saw through my white eggs last year. These are light brown. I thought I could see some movement, but that...

    Here I go again....

I am setting my eggs tonight. I'd wait a day and join you, but my kids like that they will hatch on the last day of Chanukkah. So, I'll "sort of" join you! I fit in with your hatch more than the NYD. I'm in; kinda'

3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatch!!

My eggs, more like eggsicles, came in on monday. I got my bator put back together and I'm still adjusting the temp. Of all things, I forgot to turn the eggs while they were resting, so they have just been sitting, untouched, for more than 30 hours. Between the shipping, freezing temps, and...

3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatch!!

Quote: Don't feel bad. Mine are being shipped too early to set for NYD, but not early enough that I made the Christmas day hatch. I did the math last night (instead of counting sheep I counted hatch dates), and if they arrive today, and I have them in the bator in 3 days, I'll have the 8th Day...

What to do when shipped eggs first arrive?

This is my first time to receive shipped eggs. I know I will need to open them right away, remove any cracked eggs, and set them in an egg container fat side up/pointy side down, put them in a 50degree environment, and let them sit for.... 24 hours or 3 days?? Anything else I need to do?? TIA

    Shipped Eggs Hijinx

I got some eggs from a woman last year near Franklin, NJ. I found her on Craigslist.

do's and don't of incubating and hatching?

I made my first incubator last year out of a Styrofoam cooler. I'm rebuilding it this year to hold more eggs. FYI, the coolers that are angled at the bottom, so they are narrower at the bottom than the lid, only held 6 eggs comfortably once you take out space for the lightbulb. I'd recommend...

Anyone have experience with a soldering iron?

Quote: I'm using 1 inch to 1.5 inch pieces of glass. I'd blow up the house. Thanks anyway.
