    1 year old, still hasn't laid...please help

I have 4 Barred Rock pullets. 3 of them started laying a month ago around 26 weeks. The 4th one has not laid yet. She started squatting 2 weeks ago but no 4th egg yet. I get 3 eggs 5-6 days a week, sometimes 2, so I'm almost certain the 4th hasn't started yet. I've searched my yard multiple...

Topic of the Week - Winter Egg Laying

I found it very rude myself. It's true new members with questions often get an obnoxious, frustrated reply from a more experienced chicken keeper. It just happened to me last week. I agree if you're sick of seeing these repetitive questions, then just don't reply.

    mealworm larvae in the run?

With the ridiculous price on mealworms, I am considering getting live ones and breeding them to have a constant supply. My question is my pullets have a 4 ft x 12 ft run where I have grass clippings, leaves, and hay as bedding (deep litter) for warm this winter. I was raking around today...

    Laying after lock up

For two days straight I have found a cold egg first thing in the morning around 8ish, when I let the ladies out of the coop. I do one last egg check and lock up at around 5pm and sunsets have been about 5:30ish. I know one girl lays first thing in the morning at 8:39 and she is usually the...

    Plymouth Rock thread!

Hi everyone- I have 4 BR pullets about 28 weeks (from Cackle Hatchery if that's important). 3 of them started laying 2 weeks ago, cute medium sized eggs. Yesterday, I got 1 jumbo egg from 1 of them! My questions are: Is that common for 1 of the girls to not lay yet, when the other 3 laid...

    Neat box aversion

Right. Because I do the deep litter method. The bedding in the coop is thick and deep for winter. Whenever I turned and raked in the coop, some of the poop would get in the boxes, so I put it on a platform to elevate the whole thing...
