    Thank you for your reply. I put some Hay down this evening. Will put some shavings inside tomorrow. They are on gass and I will be able to move the pen around the large one. I am new at having chickens and adding new chickens.

    What time of the day is a good time to move the chickens from the garage to their coop. We just finished the pen so I need to put down the bedding etc. Is it better to do this in the morning or the evening.Only have 2 hens and 1 rooster.

    Why I LOVE sand in my brooder!

    flossyandprissy - I am also interested in using sand in the brooder. I use chips now. My 3 chicks are 7 weeks old and still in the house. The temps outside at night is 27 and below still here in south central PA.
