Yes, they were from my flock. I always collect my eggs and refrigerate them. Now they're only in there a couple of days. Hatch rates are about the same as non-refrigerated. At least that's my experience, your results may vary.
Great to find this thread. I had a great flock of Rhode Island Whites. I rotated my stock and wound up with a rooster that wouldn't breed. By time I found another rooster, I had lost all but one hen of mine. The last hen stopped laying just as my new rooster got to breeding age. Then she...
Well let's see........
My spare roosters are housed in a separate pen all together. They grow up together so it's not a big deal and I don't get much fighting. As far as age to processing them, the old saying "old enough crow, they got to go". This is around the 5 to 6 month range.

Look into Rhode Island Whites too. Mine go broody and are great mothers. They do come in straight comb and rose comb. I'd hook you up, but looks like you are on the other side of the world.
Well Folks,
I have RIW's. The girls are still laying but have slowed down a little. My RIW's have the straight comb, not the rose comb. If your interested, let me know.
I will send the 12 + freshest eggs I have the Monday morning after auction. That way the eggs don't get stuck at the post office over some weekend. I ship in a bigger box so damage is at a minimum. ( I would hate to be "the guy who shipped in too small a box") That's why my shipping may be a...
I just set 18 Bourbon Red Turkeys Eggs yesterday. So I will play along.
Last week I set 72 chickens eggs and 15 turkey eggs.
I have another 18 pack of chicken eggs that will go in as soon as the third bator is ready.
I don't have a "problem", do I?
Not sure how to tell you this, but they are smaller than an average hen. But they are not as small as a serma. They lay eggs about the size of medium in the store, so their eggs are not tiny.
I've got a batch of eggs that are ready to go out Monday morning. Actually they are ready now, but shipping this late in the week means they may sit at the post office over the weekend. I don't like to do that with eggs. The girls are working overtime. I will send 12+ (closer to 15) eggs to...
I have 12+ Barred Rock hatching eggs ready to go. And more coming as the girls are working overtime. These can be ready to ship for the first order today and the second orders within days. These are pure bred large fowl. You will receive the freshest eggs I have and other orders will be...
