I recently purchased four pullets from a local breeder. After a few nights in the starter coop, a snake killed three of them. 😢 Because I was concerned about the remaining bird being alone, I just got three new pullets today. Unfortunately, the three new ones are picking on the original “loner”...
She is not laying right now. I don’t expect her to start until sometime in March. She’s never been a big layer. I don’t think she has any trouble with the other hen.
I just went out to check on my chickens and found that one of my hands is bleeding from the mouth and has a severely swollen crop. I can’t tell if she got into a fight with another hen or if she is sick. Any help would be appreciated
So I have a hen that I thought might be egg bound. She was waddling and her belly looked swollen.(Other than that, she is acting pretty normal) I used lubricant and did an internal digital exam but didn't feel an egg. Any advice?

I have two hens (Prissy & Greta) who were broody and insisted on staying in the same nest box for about a week. If I removed Greta or moved Prissy, Greta would follow her and climb back in the nest box with her. I just went outside to collect eggs and noticed Prissy dead in the back of the...

UPDATE:
Unfortunately we lost the hen. I'm afraid it might have been Mereck's. I have a friend who is an Avian vet and will update him tomorrow. I need to know if a necropsy is needed, or if I should just bury the bird
