What to do about maggots on a raw butt?

Well, my husband and I worked on him about an hour. Bless his heart, my husband diligently picked off over 100 maggots, but when he discovered yet another area just crawling with those nasty creatures, on his lower back and thighs that we made the decision to put poor Verne out of his...

What to do about maggots on a raw butt?

Wow!! Just read the "fly strike" article (GROSS). Just the thought of picking those maggots off Verne has my skin crawling. I'll get hubby to help when he gets home. Been checking my other chicks and looks like the lice have been making themselves at home. Everyone's getting a Sevin "shake"...

What to do about maggots on a raw butt?

Posted earlier today about my 6 mo. old lavender orpington roo with a raw butt. On closer inspection while trying to clean up the raw area I discovered little white worms crawling on a very raw area above the vent. I'm thinking those might be maggots after doing some reading on other threads...

Roo with Raw Butt, Blackened Comb and Bald Spots Below Comb

Here's a couple of pictures of the head and the butt. I guess it's possible he got attacked, but it really doesn't look like that (to have happened so suddenly). He's also sneezing and his breathing sounds congested.

7 Week SL Wyandotte Chick was 2 weepy eyes

Noticed yesterday that 1 of my SL wyandotte chicks (now 7weeks old) had a weepy eye. This morning, both eyes are weepy. I've now got her isolated. Everyone else seems OK. She's been through a lot of stress/trauma in the last couple weeks. She was 1 of the survivors of a dog attack. She's...

5 wk old Chicks attacked by dog - 6 barely survived - what can I do to help?

Thank you all so much! I do have them in a nice quiet somewhat dark place with their heat lamp over them. I put fresh water with AC vinegar in it (that's what we've been giving them since we brought them home 4 weeks ago) and some food in there. I've let them rest quietly for the last hour or...

5 wk old Chicks attacked by dog - 6 barely survived - what can I do to help?

4 chicks were still in their brooder box, one with torn out feathers. All huddled together and not moving. I found 2 chicks in the yard. Feathers torn out, but no blood. One could barely walk. I have put them all together in a clean tub with food and water and a lamp in a quiet, safe place...
