    She is doing fine now. I’ve separated her from the flock but she seems determined to be with them. I’ve made sure they don’t peck at her but so far she is fine.

    If you can't tell in the picture the front of the coop there is a hatch that opens inward, it was at one point a concessions shed. I plan on putting chicken wire over it and leaving it open during the day.

    Tell me if i’m wrong but i’m pretty sure i won’t need chicken wire underneath. All of the chickens will be in the coop during the night and i will have a door on the outside.

    I see everyone with their fancy brooder boxes but all I did was block off a portion of my chicken coop and placed down wood shavings. Maybe not a good idea, not sure, give me your input.

    The coop is 12' by 6' and the run is 12' by 12' I live in northeast Nebraska. Yes there will only be 15 birds. I ordered 10 Wyandottes 10 Black Sex Links and a variety pack of 10 random brown egg layers.

    Keeping predators out of the run

    I've hear people keep them out of the run by digging down 1 ft and have hardware cloth in the hole then fill it in. I was wondering if you could just have the bottom of the run covered by hardware cloth.

    How cheap could I build a chicken coop and run for 6 chickens?

    Well it turns out I found a 12x10 shed and I think I'm gonna convert it into a chicken coop. This guy says I can have it if I work for him for 10 hours.
