Hello all - I've been out of town for a bit and am so glad to be home. My little chick that hatched 9 days ago is doing great. S/he is spoiled rotten! My son took great care of her/him while I was gone. When I got home I swear s/he recognized my voice.
I currently have five eggs (Silver...
Just checking in on everyone. My little silver spangled hamburg is so sweet. I feel so sad that she is all alone in the brooder. I do take her out a lot and s/he curls up by my neck, in my collar bone.
I did et the second set of hamburg eggs on Thursday evening. so in about 18 days I...
I just hatched a single bantam chick. It was my first incubator hatch. Does anyone have a chick I could have/buy/rent to keep mine company. I have started another incubator hatch but the chicks won't hatch until August 8th.
Day 21 - my hatched little peep is in a brooder now all alone. Three of the four remaining eggs in the bator are quitters. There was an awful stink in the bator and so I quickly pulled each out and candled. Two of them were stinkers and one was clearly a quitter. I put the fourth on back in...
Finally! The chick is out of its shell.
I did end up helping after it was out except for one spot on its back that was stuck tight.
Thanks for the support Cats Cradle and Stephanie739 - i am so relieved. I don't know how i'm going to survive waiting for the remaining four. None of...
Glued to my incubator - you bet. The membranes around the zip line are looking dried out and some of the feathers looked dry as well. the egg did roll a little bit and now I see there is still a little bit not zipped, but there is a crack there. The membrane in that little area is still...
I'm getting paranoid now - the chick is still kinda picking along the zip line and I can see it moving. I am worried about the humidity and the possibility of shrink wrap? How common is that? The humidity is staying between 70% and 75%. Is this high enough? What if my hygrometer isn't...
My first zip - but no chick yet do they take a rest before they pop out of a zipped egg?
The little zipper is chirping which is such a lovely sound....
So happy to hear your good news
I'm still waiting for the zip to start and for some of my other eggs to pip.
Be sure to post pictures after hatching...
Great - I am somewhat less nervous since I found that one of my eggs pipped just a little while ago. This is my first hatch so I don't really know exactly when to expect a pip.
