    Mine is doing the same thing now! After a week of similar behavior she has started laying in the nesting box. I guess they just have to figure things out!

    Thanks for the help. I do mix lots of oyster shell in their feed, perhaps I should give them continual access to it as well-in a seperate feeder. I don't think she is too large...although she is a large chicken, I think she's the right size for her breed. Hopefully it's just a phase... Silly...

    Frizzles WON'T ROOST!? What to do?

    If it is any consolation my Frizzles, which are about 4 months old aren't roosting either. They huddle together in the corner. They've JUST started going out and exploring and are quite timid. However, i imagine they'll start roosting eventually, I do have a low roost for them. Good luck!

    Erica this is so interesting because my Australorp is doing the SAME thing! She is a first time layer, about 6-7 months old She was laying well for a bit, but recently the tops of the eggs have been broken. I would love some feedback on this as well, as I am at a loss.
