I am offering a young male/female pair of emu for sale. Pickup only or could meet up to a certain point. Nice big birds. Pictures upon request. I am located in North Central PA.
PM me for any questions!
Well, today was the big day! I had it planned for almost 2 weeks! I found a lady on the internet with baby emus. Needless to say, a few emails later and I was set to get my emus! I bought one and the other I traded for a peahen, goose, and a few ducks.
I woke up at 4 o' clock this morning, got...
I'd like to get some ideas on what I'm going to build for my emus.
Here's what I'm thinking, I'm going to use one of my horse stalls for their shelter, and I'm going to take the old section of horse pasture outside of the stall as their run. All I'd have to do is get different fence to wrap...
I have another question!
I'm hopefully getting one this weekend, my question is do I need to get two? They're 3 weeks old, and the four have been together since birth. I just don't want to get one and have it get depressed and die. Is that possible?
Whats your suggestions?
Hey guys!
I'm gathering as much information as possible on what people use for emu housing and pen designs.
My bright idea on the housing and the pen is that I'm going to use one of my available horse stalls for their shelter, the stalls are 12' X 12'. The stall I plan on using is already in...
I've raised them together until they reach a certain age.
Ducklings are generally messier, especially when it comes to their water dish.
I don't fill my waterer up completely, about halfway, so that the ducklings don't make a mess out of it, and so that the chicks don't get soaked and cold.
Thanks guys for all the helpful information! I've come to the conclusion, I want a pair! (: Might as well not stop at one, it's taken me this long to come by an opportunity to get one, so I'm going to take advantage of it! (:
That chick is adorable!
I can't wait to get one!
I haven't been on here for about 8 months! Busy, busy! So I just wanted to say hello all, I'm glad to be back!
I haven't forgotten about everyone, I've still been browsin' through the forums, just not logged in
But anyways, I need some helpful information from all you emu folks!
I do believe...

I start handling mine the day that they are born. It's a little risky, as they are very twitchy at that age, and can flip themselves out of your hand in the blink of an eye! Also, the disturbance of getting handled can make them pee, which is why I call them "squirts" at that age. Once...
Okay guys, I took pictures yesterday and decided to show you
The three are getting bigger each day, and they are sooooo adorable.
Here they are!
I picked out the one I'm keeping, and that's the little tan one!
I do have another question though, at what age can I handle them?

Oh idk about that! I think when he hits puberty, thats my explination for his voice, , it'll all go downhill.
Then people will be like, Justin Who?
Thank you so much! Bunnylady, the temperature here was well towards the 80s, we had a warm streak, but now it cooled well down. The high for today is 61 degrees Fahrenheit, and the low is 39. Last night we even had snow flurries! Should I bring the box with the babies in tonight? And if I do...
Lock down is when you stop turning your eggs, for chicken eggs it would be day 18. You need to let the chick settle and get in a good position to hatch.
