I have 6 mixed breed 2 week old chicks now that came froma coop with Rhode Island Red and Red Star Hen and RIR Rooster and Polish Rooster.
Every chick looks different. I will only end up keeping 2 hens probably -- Have to wait and see how they develop.
I was just looking for peopel who...
Anyone from Overland Park or surrounding cities?
I tried going out last night and driving around to see if I could hear any chickens clucking -- but I couldn't find any.
Ok - I'm in the idea/design phase of putting together a great chicken coop for two soon to be hens in my suburban neighborhood.
What important features for me to design into this small two hen coop?
Things I know I need --
Place for them to roost -- place for them to nest - place to eat and...
Hello,
I am wanting to raise some chcikens at my house for the first time. Would you please lookj over my plans and tell me if I'm nuts?
I live in the middle of suburbia. I am planning on building a nice chicken coop(using ideas from the great coop page on this site) with an attached 12x...
Unfortunately ou little chick went to the giant coop inthe sky last night.

If I nudge hsi neck straight he seems fine -- but as soon as I let go -- it curls back up.
He doesn't stand. He just kind of scoots backwards.
He was not like this yesterday --...

ONe was born less healthy though. He was the...
He was actually our first egg to hatch..

We want him to be ok.
Thank you for the reply
He is moving around -- but maybe not as much as the other chicks.

We are a third grade classroom and we have been incubating 11 eggs. They started hatching yesterday. One of the chicks was born with an exposed yolk sack. We left in the incubator over night and most of the yolk has been abosrbed. However, there is still a pea sized part hanging out.
Is...
