Dropped-off chicken - What breed and advice

Thanks so much for all the great information. We would be very inclined to keep him and give him a try. He is so sweet and beautiful. But we do have fussy neighbors who are good friends who also are our chicken-sitters when we are away, which is often. They have their small grandchildren with...

    ISA-Brown page. :)))))))

This beauty was dropped off near our house and abandoned. I think he is a ISA-Brown cockerel or a red sex-link cockerel - unless someone has another suggestion. He is extremely affectionate, calm and gentle. He was cooperative with his bath and beak clipping and lets us handle and carry him...

Show off your Red sex-links!! [[pictures included]] !! (:

I see you have a nice rooster on your head. Someone dropped off this "chicken" down the road a couple days ago and we adopted her and someone on BYC told me it was a red sex-linked cockerel. We thought it was a hen and know nothing about roosters. He is extremely docile and friendly, though...

Dropped-off chicken - What breed and advice

This pathetic chicken was dropped off down the road from our house in a rural area. We found her standing near a small, filthy opened dog crate. She is very friendly and docile and came right over to me immediately when I called her. She hobbled so badly I thought she might have a broken leg...

The girls hated the oatmeal so what other foods for cold days?

My girls LOVE warm oatmeal - but the also go crazy for warm cooked ramen noodles, (any pasta really) strictly as a treat.

    West Virginia Silver layced wyandottes

Our Silverlaced Wyandote, Pearl, was our first chick who would jump into our laps, sit on our shoulder, and as a big girl she is still the first to come running for treats. She is highly food motivated, but also I think pretty smart for a chicken :) Have fun!

    Hawks and aprons?

Hi - new to the forum and chicken raising. We have 8 "pets" - all hens. They have a nice coop, a small run enclosed in hardward cloth, and a portable tractor covered in netting that I drag around the yard. Our hens love to free-range whenever we can be out with them under close supervision...
