Daughter broke up with boyfriend and I'm the one depressed!

I suppose I should just butt out. I feel like I lost a family member. I really thought he would be my son-in-law. *sigh* She's dated so many jerks, and I thought, "Finally! A nice guy!"

Daughter broke up with boyfriend and I'm the one depressed!

I really would like to reach out to the young man and wish him well but do not want to pour salt in a raw wound. At what time frame did you text your son's ex?

Daughter broke up with boyfriend and I'm the one depressed!

My daughter recently broke up with her boyfriend of one year (they are both 24). We all embraced him as a member of the family, and he was welcomed to holiday dinners and vacations. The whole extended family was impressed by his wit, intelligence, and gentle nature. I saw how he adored my...

There are many red tail hawks in our area. I've seen as many as ten circling the neighborhood. My girls have never been troubled by them, but a recent hurricane did take out several of our trees that have probably blocked them from view. I hadn't thought of that.

My Roade Island Red was found dead this morning!

MINE TOO!!! My Rhode Island Red Julius. I just logged on to see if anyone had any ideas on what could have happened!! I went out to check on them this afternoon and she was curled up next to the waterer! It looked like she had just dug herself into a nice cool spot and that was that! I was...

    Hen missing toe nails

One of my RIRs also has missing middle toe nails. Is it just this breed, or do others occasionally turn up nail-less?

    Nest Box Problem

I tried aspen--the pine smells better. Also, my experience has been that shavings compost better than hay.

HELP!!!! 911!!! Chicken vs. Dog. (Update)

One of my hens survived a dog attack following all of the previously posted advice. The only thing I would add would be something for pain: an aspirin crushed in water. Search this site for the exact dosage.

Free Hens...RIR, NHR or Production Red mix?

So what exactly is a Production Red? What is the difference between these birds and RIR?

My eggs look like they have a spare tire :/

One of my Barred Rock hens consistently lays eggs just like this! My thought was that they are a little slow coming out of the shoot...

    Milk crates

I use them for nesting boxes--perfect size and the girls look cozy in them.
