I am teaching myself to knit right now. It is amazing what you can learn by watching youtube videos!! I am attempting to make a stocking cap for my DH. We will see how that goes... I also want to try crocheting once I get the knitting down pat!!
So far, the Purina is the closest to organic that I can find locally. I got at least a dozen and a half eggs a day more when the chickens were on that. Then, we thought we'd try Nutrena b/c it was almost $2/bag cheaper, but still good quality. Eggs still not as big or as many...We're switching...
Yes, we noticed that our chickens lay more eggs, and bigger eggs, when we feed the Purina. We've tried a blend from the local milling company, Purina, and Nutrena. Purina definitely makes a difference with our chickens.
Countrywife - I will let you know when the piglets arrive. We will register all piglets, but sell them either registered or non-registered.
Gaited Horse - we're not quite to that point yet. The boar is almost 5 months now, so we still have a little time. But, I will definitely let you know...
Okay, took my camera to the barn this evening. Here are more recent pics...
This is Dixie.
This is Penny.
And, this is Mojo.
Will post pics of piglets when they arrive!
Thanks, LZ. I would have to say that both girls are pointed up, and they haven't come back into heat. But, no signs of teats getting bigger yet....That's the bad thing about having the boar in with them....Not sure when the deed was done. We were worried because at one point in time, he thought...
Will do. I just got a new laptop and haven't switched my pics over yet. I will add pics this weekend, though. Tamworths are a heritage breed pig. Red. Very pretty and great natured. My 700 lb boar is a big baby. We also have Berkshires that we plan to breed in about 6 months or so.
Okay, we're 99% sure that two of my Tamworth pigs are preggy. Problem is, not sure when the boar finally did his job. We are thinking we have about a month to go, but not sure...
These will be our first litters, so wish us luck!!
Yes, you can see what you need to see with a good, strong flashlight. Sometimes it's tricky trying to candle the dark eggs, but you should do fine with the others.
