    Wattles are still the same on the other (smooth feathered) one and no crowing so I'm going to hold on to her (please be a her!). II'l try and post an updated picture of her though in case it will provide any more clues.

    Thanks for the replies. I went and checked for combs and didn't see any on either, though the frizzle has red skin the same color as its wattle all around the beak area. Nothing that red on the other one. Here's hoping that one is a hen. What age do the normally start crowing? Thanks again. Hayley

    Thank you for the info, good to know. I'd still like to get one, hopefully it will lay a few eggs every now and then, my old lady hens still manage an egg every few days (when the days are longer) , so anything more would be good. Hayley
