    Laying at 11 weeks old?

I didn't even think about that, thank you :-). They are barnyard mutts, I think the one that has started laying already might be a Rhode island red/black australorp, but I'm not sure.

    Laying at 11 weeks old?

My hands are really small lol my 6 year old has hands almost as big as mine. All eggs have a white spot on the yolk, but when they are fertilized that white spot looks like a perfect bullseye, its actually pretty neat :-).

    Laying at 11 weeks old?

The brown egg is actual a normal size egg, it just looks huge compared to how tiny the other ones are. I can tell it was fertilized because it had anperf ectopic bullseye in the yolk.

    Laying at 11 weeks old?

The brown egg in the middle is one of the regular eggs, the other 2 are ones I have gotten out of my adolescent pen as I call it. Got another one today and cracked it open out of curiosity, perfectly formed yolk inside, even fertilized.

    Laying at 11 weeks old?

While it is very young, it's possible. I have a pen just for my adolescent birds, 8-12 weeks give or take and I have been getting a teeny tiny egg from that pen every other day for the last week. I know that it has to be coming from an 8-12 weeker because there are literaly no other chickens in...

    Chicken math

We decided last year to get just a few chicks, picked up 6 black australorps from tractor supply. As far as I was concerned, that was more than enough, I didn't even like chickens! Or so I thought anyway, my grandparents had chickens when I was younger and I remembered having to take a broom in...

Need help Please.. Ancona ducks pipping early

Even if you don't want to help them hatch, if that membrane is turning brown you need to keep it moist, put a damp paper towel around it. These links may be helpful should you decide to help, it's for chicks but it's the same basic principle. Just remember if you do help you must be very...
