I ordered Probios for my chickens as they cannot seem to stop with diarrhea. The directions only say to give 1/2 tsp per bird, per day. Since I have 9 hens, I would like to put it in their drinking water. Does anyone know how much to use per gallon of water for this many birds?
Thank you all for your replies. I will try the yogurt and Probios. I already give them the Braggs ACV in their water. I will just keep my fingers crossed and try to be more optimistic.
Yes, they all seem to be doing it. I feed them layer pellets from our local farmer's co-op. They go out of their run about 3 times a week for a couple of hours in the afternoon to free range on grass. And 2-3 times a week I give them watermelon, tomatoes, cabbage and pumpkin seed but not in...
I am stumped. Have 9 hens, 1 1/2 years old. Started with diarreah about a month ago. Saw worms in poo so wormed them with valbazen per Dawg's instructions--1/2cc 10 days apart. Last dose was 6/25/13. Gave them buttermilk some days to help with gastric recovery. Diarreah still going on in...
I think it depends on how attached you are to your hens. I have two left from my first 6 purchased 5 1/2 years ago. They are happy BFs and still lay approximately 5 eggs a week between the two of them. That makes me happy, but more importantly THEY make me happy. I have 14 new ladies that...
Among my 14 hens (25 weeks old today), two are easter eggers. One of them layed their first egg yesterday. Pretty aqua color and was about twice the size of the other's first ones. Was so excited to see it in the nest. Cant' wait for the second one to lay. Out of the others, three to four...
My 14 girls were hatched April 25th also. Only 2 are laying as of yet. One is a dominique who started at 22 weeks (5 1/2 mos.) and has layed every day since. The other is either the Ancona or the Golden Campine who gave her first egg yesterday at 1 day short of 24 weeks. The first flock I...
I googled images of Ancona rooster and sure enough she is a she and not a he. Should have thought to do this before I posted the question. Thanks for the above input though.
I have a mixed flock of 14 hens including one Ancona. I thought she was a she since she does not crow, but her behavior is becoming questionable. They are all 23 weeks old and have gotten along well with each other. In the past week, the Ancona has begun chasing, mainly, one dominique almost...
