LF Blue Orpington Rooster & Chocolate Orpington Rooster in NE Florida

Need to rehome asap. The blue orpington is very large, but has gentle disposition. He is a favorite with the hens, but he is too large in my opinion. The chocolate rooster is just old enough to breed and is still rough with the hens (doesn't know what he's doing yet), but he tolerates being...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

is the Scooby like what's in kombacha? I was going to start using that as a starter. Why is stainless steel bad for the Scooby? I thought as long as it was non-ferrous it's okay to use.

    Americauna or Easter egger

I am trying to rehome a chicken, but first I need to know what it is. I hatched the eggs and got bbs Marans, bbs orpingtons, buff/blue cross orpingtons, possibly langshans and this little guy or girl. I think it's an ameracauna (sp?) Or Easter egger. He was hatched April 28, so going on 4 months...

2016 U.S. Election, Who Are You Voting For?

I personally don't like our current system and really question the results of several elections. I would like to see popular vote brought back and the way presidential candidates run for office changed completely. It's too much about money and corporate sponsorship and not enough about what is...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

that's gross, I have it in my kitchen. On the other hand, might be good for dieting and make me want to do anything but eat.... how can I tell the difference between it growing mold and beneficial bacteria? Especially if it can smell like vomit.

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Thank you for replying. So should I give it a couple of more days and see if the smell goes away? Is it still safe to feed or should I throw it out? I'm afraid to keep trying it if it's going bad, don't want to waste expensive organic feed and really don't want to make my chickens ill..

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

What causes fermented feed to smell bad after 4 or 5 days. I am using organic grower from ts, fill large stainless steel pot that has stainless basket, fill basket 1/2 way with grain and fill water to about an inch from top of pot add a glug of Braggs acv and stir occasionally. By late afternoon...

I found a goat in my garage.

Intact male goats are harder to rehome. If you do rehome him, try to make sure the ppl that get him aren't wanting to just eat him. Thegoatspot.net is probably a better forum for asking goat questions and you might get lucky and find its owner there. I have Nigerian dwarfs about his size and...

    Need to cull three cockerels

Local chicken forums on facebook. You might find someone else locally that is interested in the breed. I'm leery of craigslist, at least with facebook, you know who your are dealing with if they belong to the group. We have local swaps once a month as well. Perhaps that is something you could...

You're not being a pest. DH cut scoop handle down with grinder and then sanded smooth where it wouldn't cut me. He then drilled pilot hole through scoop handle and dowel rod. He did this twice and put bolts, nuts and locking washers on them to keep in place. Forgot to add: The first time he did...

Here is our coop poop scoops. Made from modified cat litter scoop and wood dowel. One is made from plastic cat scoop and the other from metal. I prefer to use the metal because it doesn't flex. Easy to clean sand in coop.
