My thoughts are to put it on a one year trail before they write the official ordinance, so they can see its not an issue like they...
OR, how do we prevent these issues from happening...? I personally don't think that many people will even have chickens if we put a permit and/or fee on it.
Thanks so much! I think they aren't scared of the chickens themselves but they are worried about people that wont follow the ordinance or neighbors complaining about something, hence, WHO will enforce these issues....
Anyone else have ideas for me? I could really use more! I feel like we are on the right path to making this work, just need as many ideas as possible to show the board. Thanks!
I really like the "pilot" idea. That was actually brought up, that a few towns are allowing them on a trial basis. I really don't even think we would have too many people who would have chickens in the first place for it to be an issue but they seem set on worrying about it. "citizen...
Well, my big night in the spotlight was last night. I took it to the board to change our ordinance to allow us to have a small flock of backyard chickens. I went well prepared with answers to all the negative thoughts on chicken keeping and it went over fairly well! BUT here was the issue...
This is exactly where I am right now with my town. I brought it up at our town meeting last night. The idea went over pretty well but here was the hang up..... with a town of less than 2000 and only 1 officer on duty at a time, "how will we enforce the rules and who will take care of...
