Are there any decent breeders/hatcheries in central Florida? Lakeland/Plant City/Winter Haven/Mulber

I am in Sarasota and have 10 standard chickens and just acquired a bantam. Do you know if Come See Come Save sells bantams or if that lady in Lakeland has them? I just wanted to add a couple more. Are they pullets or chicks?

loud breathing with mouth open and sneezing on 7 month old hen

We have a hen that is one of 9 that developed cold-like symptoms recently. Her behavior, appetite, weight has not really changed. She has been laying for a couple months. Weather has been wet here in FL lately. I was wondering if she needs any treatment or if this is not a serious condition...

Pre-fab coop vs converted play set coop vs build-your-own

I am struggling to decide on the route to go for a medium-sized coop, I think the pre-fab coops tend not to last. I have limited carpentry skills and don't know about my ability to build a nice-looking coop. I kinda like the idea of converting a quality kids playground into a coop. I live in...

    Chickens for Backyards?

From what I have read, the sex-linked chicks sound pretty good for what we are looking for as far as eggs and friendliness. Does e-fowl have a minimum? We kinda only want 5-6 more pullets. I live in FL. I bought from a local guy with lots of chickens but we ended up with two roos out of 5...

    Question on GMO feed

There is a lot of debate about GMO foods. I guess, I would rather my chicken ate it than my child. But what does that traslate into an egg? I don't know. I think you do the best you can given your resources and finances, time, etc. There are many environmental factors. I think it is best...

    2 roosters and 3 hens

Ideally, we did not want roosters. Unfortunately, I have children and a girlfriend who have raised them and have become attached to them.(that doesn't sound right) I have heard a minimum of 10 hens. Do the roosters need to be separated if they grew up together? Do we need 20 hens then?

    2 roosters and 3 hens

My girlfriend and her kids and I recently purchased 5 chicks 2.5 months ago in hopes all were hens. Well, it turns out that 2 are roosters and are beginning to be noisy at dawn. The kids have become attached to them as pets and give them lots of daily attention. Is it possible to have 2...
