It might have to do with it but i doubt it. The first step is to get them to eat from your hand. You can try this by crouching down and tossing food to them- tossing the food closer to you each time so that they'll come closer. eventually they'll eat right from your hand

you're right, it is getting late (but this website is so addictive!) 4' is high enough. my coop is about 3.5' interior height (I never really measured it and I'm not the best at estimating lol) but 4' should be plenty. make sure to include a perch inside. and pressure treated wood is fine
