    Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

    I have two Ameraucana that I hatched on April 4 of this year. When should they start laying eggs? My other hatch of Barred Rocks have been laying for a few weeks and they are a month younger.

    Anyone have a thought as to what breed these are?

    It's been six weeks since I got these fellas. I'm positive the brown duck is a Campbell. This one, I haven't been able to match up with anything as of yet. I thinking some type of Mallard but I haven't come across any with the gold color before. If anyone has an ideas it would be appreciated.

    @Ghibli I was thinking the same for the brown one too. But these are the first ducks I have ever own, let alone raised, so I figured I would ask those with more experience.

    Hatched my first batch of eggs this week. I set 12 Ameraucana that I had shipped in from N.H. and 6 from my mixed flock. So far I have 10 out of the 18 that have hatched. Which as a first timer I think is doing o.k.

    Welcome Draag80, Not sure what run dimensions you have for that many birds but I think the recommended space per bird is 10 square ft in a run.

    Morning everyone, Just ordered some Ameraucana eggs this week. Going to try them for my first hatch. Been working on plans for a larger coop. Thinking an 8x6 should give me the room for all the chickens I have and want for a few more years anyways. Darn chicken math..

    @Sally Sunshineit's all plastic, has a 12 egg auto turner with built in hydrometer and thermostat.I ran it for a day to check temp swings. Stayed with in a degree of the set point.
