I remember Costco when the hotdogs were sold in a cart out front with a can of pop. Then they got in pretzels. Back when you had to meet certain requirements to shop there. When the one in Kennewick opened, Dad got a membership and Mom took Grandma and my Great Aunt when needed. They'd split the...

My silkie/EE, silkie/ameraucana, silkie/cochin will use a platform but none have liked roosts. Some sleep with the silkies and some prefer the flat roof. The 1/4 silkies have roosted. I'm still not sure how the fat silkie shaped one get 8 feet to the 4x4 uprights that are my roof collapse...

He was white. I had 4 white hens as well, named after white/grey volcanic rocks. Ash just didn't seem to flow for him

I eat the extra roosters but ones that get names die from old age or illness. My rooster Ashes was a favorite. Sweet boy and posed for pictures. He started going downhill as many old ones do. I separated him to a pen with a hen and chicks. He perked up and made it another 6 months.

She doesn't require much. She's still a reliable layer at almost 8. Can't hatch her eggs. She ignores the rooster. I'd kept my rooster that got blinded by a head peck. He had two older hens that would call him in and out of the house and to the food and water. He got so depressed, though.

I have a mostly blind, elderly silkie who won't even try to get into the silkie house anymore. Steps are too high when you can barely see. I upturned a couple rubber water bowls in the pen and she's been sleeping on them. I need to dig out one of the really big ones and fill it with shavings and...

Most of my silkies sleep in piles. Only a few have roosted. It's a breed thing. If offered a raised platform instead of a roost they tend to like those. Even some of my easter eggers liked a platform. I put one on part of the roost

Had to fix a silkie roof tarp that came loose. Roof is double tarped so easy fix with no rushing needed. Just new zip ties after getting the tarp back over. Greenhouse is kaput. Wind snapped the tie downs and threw it into garden fence. I'll try to salvage. Think I need to make one with kennel...

We had it flicker off then on about 8 times but kept power. Not so much around us. Lots of power outages in town and downed trees

I'm getting a few polish this spring so for the first time ever I'll have white layers. They should get along great with the silkies. Both are featherblind airheads

Not this again. We're just outside of the zone and no one has been allowed out of the covered pens for months because of the coopers hawks. The pin is me. Grey circles are old cases from the last time.

Flooding in Auburn is close to hubby's work so he doesn't know if they will be going in or not. 167 being closed does not help. He has two route choices and East Valley Hwy might be touchy

The pond isn't full so it's the pooling in the low spots that will cause us issues. If it quits raining for a few hours that will start draining. Even the worst flooding we had only got to 10 feet of the pens and that was heavy rain on top of a foot of snow. Ground was too cold to drain well...
