Any help in identifying the one labeled as mystery chicken would be appreciated!
My 10 year old daughter raises poultry to show in our county fair (not with 4H but similar local group to 4H and FFA). She got some bantams from the Bantam bin at Tractor Supply one didn’t make it but she has 3...
We hire someone to come over twice a day….usually one of the local FFA kids because my daughter is picky about who takes care of her chickens since majority are her 4H project and the FFA kids she trusts more since a lot of them are raising their own animals.
Awesome thank you!
Yay she has to only take birds in the blue book to fair so it was more she was trying to figure out if he could go to fair or if he got to stay with her 😁
My daughter got this guy with some Barnevelders and was told all are Barnevelders. They are about 6 weeks old now and this one has different coloring then the other ones. My daughter raises chickens for her 4H project for fair and looking at the Blue Book it looks like the coloring isn’t going...
My daughter got 4 ducklings from the duck bin at TSC. Last year she raised just chickens for 4H but this year she wanted to try raising ducks along with her chickens.
They are 5 weeks old and she thinks she has identified two of them as Pekins but 2 of them she said she can’t figure out what...
Yes! It was a constant battle with them last summer until we figured out what to do. I feel we are a little better prepared this year, last year a lot of the time it felt like we had jumped off the deep end and I would question why we let our daughter join 4H and do the poultry project lol
Buff Orpingtons are turning into my daughter’s favorite. Last year she raised 3 that turned out to be two cockerels and a pullet. She sold them all at fair (should sold one cockerel and the hen as a pair and they went for the highest amount out of any of the other birds at auction).
This year...
Hello everyone! I just found this thread and was excited to see one specific to Arizona! We are in Duncan, AZ (rural town in southeastern part of the state almost into New Mexico) and we are on our second year with chickens, my youngest daughter started raising them last year for 4H and she...
4H is keeping her entertained until she is old enough for FFA (at her school she can start taking ag classes in 6th grade and join FFA in 7th grade)….she is in 4th grade right now and is always telling us the only reason she hasn’t dropped out of school yet is so she can be in FFA. At least she...
My 10 year old daughter got these chicks yesterday from TSC to add to her flock she is raising for her 4H project for fair. (We went for feed left with feed and chicks lol) The very bottom one she was told were coronation Sussex and her quick look in the blue book didn’t show that coloring but...
Sometimes I question what we let her get into and feel like we jumped off the deep end 🤣 but for the most part it’s been so fun watching her learn and take care of her flock!
Hello! This is our second year with chickens (we added some ducks this year as well). Our adventure started in 2021 when our youngest daughter (she is 10 now) saw the animal barn at our local fair and she wanted to start showing animals. We told her she had to start with small stock and she...
