    4 chickens suddenly stopped laying

So I've got five chickens and when the weather switched from summer to fall, four of my five hens stopped laying. Not slowed down. Stopped. They aren't hidden somewhere. I've checked. I don't think they are all molting. Seems odd and now I'm worried about their health. What is up with my ladies?

    Drowned Rats and more

Ugh. Rats. I've killed several, blocked off their routes into the coop and more. They keep coming back. Tonight I ventured deep into the run and found some things that disturb me very much. first I found extensive tunnels. Then I found lots of rat poop leading to a hole at the bottom of the...

Can you use clam shells for extra calcium?

Nine years later I'm following up: Use an old sock as the clam sack and whack it with a hammer several times (with a rock as a backstop, not your hardwood floors). This will get your pieces small enough for them to consume without making a mess.

    Lights on or off?

I'm getting my first chicks In the near future and I haven't seen whether I should or should not keep the light on in the room I am keeper the brooder in or not. I know light matters for laying but I'm not sure it matters as chicks since the heat lamp will be on.

In the Midst of Building a Coop - I'll take warnings before I finish

Hi there. I've been reviewing the posts on here for a while and was going to post my first post a while back, but I had some trouble with the registration process. I've picked up on several answers to questions that I had just by checking this forum. So, as a bit of background about the...
