If your wanting a smaller turkey, you should check out midget white turkeys..
As for butcher age I can't help I have midget whites and they take about 26 weeks to get to butcher size (heritage breed)
Beside making sure you saw that YOU said it please tell me how you heard me shout? Did you or did you not say and i quote again "no such thing as an accident. Lack of awareness more like it."
Well next time why don't you keep your opinion to you self especially when you say and I quote "no such thing as an accident. Lack of awareness more like it." So yes YOU said it was on purpose..
No such thing as an accident?!? What kind of nonsense is that? Walking up and kicking a drake is not an accident, opening a nesting box checking for eggs and scaring the sh!t out of a drake is completely an accident..
I've found that if I separate they mom's from the baby's they will start laying within a few weeks.. I do it with my turkeys and ducks if I want more eggs from them..
I'm sure it's possible, anything is possible.. I live in Florida and have eggs start hatching early February and have not had any of my girls start laying until the next spring.. but I'm sure it is possible. I'm no expert, I just know that I've never had it happen to me..
You can eat turkey eggs if you want, but I'd rather hatch them and eat the turkeys themself..
I'm sure it's possible for a hen to start laying in fall the same year they hatch but I have never had any start that soon.. it's always the next spring.. for me at least..
See that's why I raise all the animals I have.. home grown meat that I know was born raised and slaughtered the most humane ways possible.. I love my animals, and my kids name them all but they know why we have them..
