Just found my 9 month old silkie hen on its back.
Her head looks like it is upside down and she seems to be having fits or spasms.
Have put her in a brooder with a red heat lamp to see if she comes round.
Everything seems normal in the coup, the other silkies are fine.
Anybody have any...
Anything is possible these days.
But.
I would be thinking when it comes time to take it off what would you clean the chicken off with.
I can only see problems .
I hope this is not a common problem, i have 10, 1 week old Golden Polish and 3 silver.
Would not like this to happen to them.
If it did happen to one i would move it into a cage on its own, with a lamp for walmth.
When i have had chicks with splayed legs, i put 1/4 inch, square type wire that is used for avairies, into the brooder.
It has worked for me on more then 6 chicks that i would have killed.
I have tried to keep chicks that had splayed legs, but in the end its not nice to see them crawling...

I dont know wich ones i like best, but i think i only have 3 or 4 silver ones and the other 10 are the Gold Laced .

Here are my 2, 3 weeks old silkies in another brooder, and 3 Black/Red Araucana also 3 weeks old.
And last of all are 7 quail that i stuck in the battor with the polish chickens, they are 4...

Anyway, now have 13 polish chicks, 2 more hatched over night.
Will be trying to get the pic's on line as soon as.
Have taken pic's to show you's, but having a bit of a problem uploading them, but i will do so before the day is done.
I also have 2 silkies in another brooder now 3 weeks old and 3 Black/Red Araucana also 3 weeks old.
